New off-leash dog park coming to Belmont

Dog owners will be able to let their pets off the leash in Belmont at a state government funded dog park.

Going back to work with an "overly bonded" dog? That's a problem

Dog owners will be able to let their pets off the leash on the banks of the Barwon River in Belmont at a state government funded dog park.

Construction of the off-leash park is expected to start by the end of the year after $225,000 was committed to the project.

The state government will work with Geelong council to determine the final design and exact location before the project is put to tender.

Geelong MP Christine Couzens said: “It’s fantastic dog owners will have access to a designated area to socialise and exercise their pets – and the community as a whole will be able to enjoy more open green space.”

The move is part of a $2.5 million spend for 17 more dog parks across the state.
