New COVID-19 case confirmed on the Gold Coast

A WOMAN has been diagnosed with coronavirus on the Gold Coast according to authorities – one of four new cases in the state.

Across Queensland total cases now sit at 1117, with 24 active cases in Queensland.

The Gold Coast’s total number of active infections now sits at four.

The new Gold Coast case, a 30 to 39-year-old woman, is the wife of one of the Pimpama cases.

Over 878,366 tests have now been conducted across the state.

There are currently 18 patients in hospital with the virus.

All four new cases announced on Saturday are related to the outbreak at the Queensland Corrective Services Academy, while three of those four cases relate to household transmission, Mr Miles said.

The other cases include a man from Greenbank who was another trainee at the Corrective Services Academy; a woman in her 30s from Forest Lake who is the wife of another corrective services trainee, previously reported; and a Forest Lake woman in her 60s who is the wife of a case previously reported.

Only 10 people are allowed in homes across the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Mr Miles announced areas under tightened restrictions will now expand to include the Darling Downs.

From 8am Monday, only 10 people will be allowed inside homes and at non-COVIDSafe venues across the Darling Downs region.

Mr Miles urged everyone at community sport this weekend to remember social distancing.

Queensland Health have released every place visited by two new cases of COVID, who were confirmed in Pimpama overnight.

The contact tracers have identify all the places the infected people have visited during the past 14 days.
