A SATURATED kangaroo has stopped for a rest in a suburban yard after reportedly jumping a fence on Friday afternoon.
Grovedale man Eeon Macaulay and his wife spotted a roo on their veranda about 3pm.
Mr Macaulay, who has lived at the Meadowvale Drive property since 1995 and seen a procession of other animals through his property including foxes and rabbits, said the kangaroo find was a first.
“It looked as if it had been in some water. I’m guessing that it came from the Waurn Ponds creek and jumped over our fence because the fence is about chest high. I think kangaroos can jump that high,” Mr Macaulay said.
“It didn’t look distressed and was just sitting on the veranda.
“It looked quite content. After about 10 minutes … it just bounded up our driveway and onto Meadowvale Drive.
“It was quite large. It was a bright part of our day. It put our COVID worries on the sideline.”
