Anthony Albanese was on a victory lap in his inner-city seat of Grayndler the day after his historic re-election, as Labor retains government for three more years.
Celebrating his landslide victory, Mr Albanese went on a coffee run with locals in his electorate before grabbing beers named after him at a local brewery in St Peters.
It was at the brewery, however, where things went a little left of centre for the newly re-elected PM.
Innocently trying to make friends with a local pooch, Mr Albanese got a snappy reception which he copped with a good-natured laugh.
“Don’t bite the PM!” he exclaimed.
“They have security, they’ll shoot you!”
Mr Albanese’s security laughed at the quip — hopefully reassuring the crowd that there would be no caninicide at the brewery that day.
The PM had left Kirribilli House on Sunday morning with his partner Jodie Haydon and visited Bar Italia in Leichhardt, a coffee shop he said he used to visit with his mum.
The PM then took the celebrations to the Willie the Boatman in St Peters where punters could get a Albo Pale Ale.
To the side of the bar was a gold framed portrait of a young Albanese whose face is printed on his beer can.
