Federal opposition leader Anthony Albanese has moved to capitalise on the extraordinary spray delivered by outgoing Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells against Scott Morrison under parliamentary privilege on Tuesday night, saying her comments speak to the “flaws in his character”.
“These are extraordinary comments from a Senator who knows Scott Morrison well, and who assisted Scott Morrison’s preselection after he only got eight votes after all in the first round for the electorate of Cook, and who has given a proper character assessment,” Mr Albanese said.
Ms Fierravanti-Wells described the Prime Minister as an “autocrat” and a “bully who has no moral compass”, and accused Mr Morrison and Immigration Minister Alex Hawke of “ruin(ing) the Liberal party in NSW”.
Referring to other reports of attacks on Mr Morrison by the likes of Gladys Berejiklian and Barnaby Joyce, Mr Albanese said, “Those people who know Scott Morrison well attest to the flaws in his character.
“Last night it’s extraordinary that a sitting serving Senator, who’s been a former Minister, who has served alongside in the ministry with Scott Morrison, says that he is unfit to be Prime Minister,” he said.
