Federal Election: Multiple candidates dumped amid several scandals

The ghost of Malcolm Turnbull has returned to ABC's 7.30 tonight during Leigh Sales' interview with Scott Morrison.

In a tense interview with host Leigh Sales, Scott Morrison has been asked asked why, if the Coalition is spruiking such a strong track record, was Mr Turnbull dumped as PM

Mr Morrison described the leadership coup as "a matter of record and history now".

Earlier, the PM  dodged a question from an angry voter about the controversial reopening of the Christmas Island detention centre.

A woman shouted at the Prime Minister as he was leaving Shellharbour Hospital in NSW, demanding answers over why he spent money on Christmas Island and not more at the local facility.

Meanwhile, a third debate between Bill Shorten and Scott Morrison has been locked in for this Wednesday at the National Press Club in Canberra.

It’s likely to be the last debate of the election campaign.
