The Prime Minister was there to make a $99 million election announcement and sell his image as a new man, but it was a junior footy player in Melbourne who stole the show.

Dylan Kannegiesser, 11, was expecting to spend a Saturday morning at Norwood Football Clubs but ended up in the entourage of the nation‘s leader.

The under 12s junior footy player with red hair caught the eye of viewers tuning into the daily campaign press conference when he was spotted hopping up and down on the spot behind the Prime Minister. (See the video in the player above).

He was so active in front of the cameras that some thought the bouncing was out of pure excitement.

But the Melbourne weather turned out to be real factor as rain turned conditions from cold to freezing.

Eventually Dylan had enough, going to get a hoodie before hopping straight back in front of the cameras.

It could be the start of a bright media career for the 11-year-old, who also caught the eye of the crowd while the Prime Minister joined Norwood Footy Club for drills and training.

He made his way to the front of a group selfie and was even spotted giving Mr Morrison a high five after the leader displayed his kicking technique.

Dylan said it had been exciting to meet the Prime Minister in person on the footy field.

The Coalition leader was in Melbourne‘s north to spruik a $20 million funding commitment that will expand free sports for young Australians.
