JIHADI bride Tara Nettleton’s family are trying to get her and her children out of war-torn Syria and are still holding on to hope she’ll return safely.

Ms Nettleton has been in Syria with her husband, notorious Islamic State recruit Khaled Sharrouf, since late 2013. Also with the couple are their five children.

It emerged yesterday that Ms Nettleton was trying to return to Australia with the children and her mother Karen Nettleton travelled to Malaysia to try and arrange their return.

She would not comment yesterday but indicated to the Daily Telegraph the strain was getting to her by shaking her head when asked if she was OK, and looked distressed as she arrived back at her Sydney home,

Peter Nettleton hasn’t seen his daughter for 10 years but told the Telegraph: “I still love my daughter and I hope she comes home safely.”

Nine News reported he’d only met two of the grandchildren. “I do not know their whereabouts, or what they’re doing. I only know through the newspapers and television where they are.”

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has warned Sharrouf — and his wife — would be arrested and could face lengthy jail terms if convicted.

Sharrouf’s three young boys and two teenage daughters are considered by some senior security sources as victims of their father’s extremism. However, Ms Nettleton’s case is more complicated, given the role she is believed to have played in getting the children out of Australia in the first place.
