AN EX-BANDIDOS bikie linked to the infamous Broadbeach brawl became collateral damage during a brazen shooting that killed former Rebels bikie president Nick Martin in front of hundreds of horrified onlookers in Western Australia at the weekend.

Mr Martin, 51, was gunned down while attending a motorsports event in Perth on Saturday evening with his wife and other family members.

The second man wounded during the sniper-style shooting was former Gold Coast Bandido Ricky Chapman, 31.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for gunshot wounds after attending a drag race at the Kwinana Motorplex on Saturday night.

A young boy also received superficial wounds.

WA police are still investigating who is behind the shooting, but have said they are gearing up for a potential bikie war and are on high alert for retaliatory attacks.

It is understood Chapman is dating Mr Martin’s stepdaughter Stacey Schoppe, who was also present during the shooting.

Chapman was one of nine men who either pleaded guilty to riot or downgraded charges in the Southport Magistrates Court in 2015 over the wild brawl.

He was charged with rioting after the September 2013 melee that erupted in a Broadbeach restaurant in September 2013 in an effort to hunt down former Bandidos boss Jacques Teamo’s rival Jason Trouchet.

Chapman famously tried to backflip after entering a guilty plea to his role in the brawl and subsequent storming of Southport Police Station, arguing he didn’t read a document his lawyer asked him to sign.

However, he was later sentenced for a downgraded charge.

Several years later in WA, Chapman was sentenced to more than five years jail in WA for supplying ice, after being sprung selling drugs to an undercover cop.

At the time of his arrest WA Police said Chapman was the vice president of the Bandidos in the western state.

Chapman sold 54.9g of methylamphetamine for $18,000.

Another time he sold 82g of the drug for $27,000.

He was released on immediate parole.
