A WOMAN claims Queensland police accidentally gave her address to her violent ex-partner who has already breached several protection orders after allegedly threatening to stab her to death and gas her children.
The woman, who can’t be identified for legal reasons, told news.com.au she feared for her life and the lives of her young children because her ex now knows where she lives.
“My son is seven and heard (my ex-partner) say he wanted to stab him and kill me,” she said.
“(My ex has) escaped mental institutions, held sieges, had a chainsaw to his neck, and used a nail gun to shoot at police officers and damage their equipment and cars.
“He has threatened to drown the neighbour’s cat in the pool, threw my dog from car onto road, and emailed my ex-husband saying he is going to gas my children.
“He didn’t know where I lived until police gave him my address.”
News.com.au has verified the identity of the victim and viewed the protection orders issued to her ex-partner, who also can’t be identified for legal reasons.
The order stated the man was prohibited from entering or attempting to enter the woman’s premises and from going within 50 metres of her.
A spokesperson for Queensland Police told news.com.au the organisation is “reviewing the circumstances surrounding a matter where details of an offence location were provided to a defendant as part of court material”.
Police have offered support to the woman involved to ensure her safety and that of her family, including immediate alternative secure accommodation while her longer term
accommodation requirements are addressed,” the spokesperson said.
“The woman’s concerns are being investigated and if any processes are found to be deficient, they will be rectified.
“We will continue to work with the woman to ensure a satisfactory outcome.”
The woman is calling on Queensland Police to immediately find her suitable accommodation and pay for her removal and bond costs.
She said she “needs to move now” for the safety of her family but that she did not have the means to fund it.
“I had a suitable home but I no longer have that,” she said.
Queensland Police would not be drawn by news.com.au on whether or not they planned to pay the costs.
“I’ve changed emails, moved twice and (my ex is) always able to hunt me down.”
The woman alleged her ex had breached protection orders more than a dozen times since November last year.
“He has threatened my witnesses, threatened myself and threatened my children,” she said.
“I’ve dealt with (Queensland Police) and (they’ve) done everything to protect me.
“I’m not trying to make it terrible for them but I need my safety.”
