IT’S young talent time for footy kids at North Hobart Oval on Sunday and future Tasmanian Devils girl’s player Claire Ransom hopes to lead her Demons to victory in the grand final against Sandy Bay.

The Southern Tasmanian Junior Football League gala day features four grand finals back-to-back, all live streamed at the Mercury online from 10am.

Ransom a 16-year-old midfielder, is captain of North Hobart’s under-17 girls team, which goes up against Sophie Abel’s team Sandy Bay.

The Demons finished undefeated on top of the ladder and on their way to the grand final beat Sandy Bay three times.

“We usually had close games early but we’ve managed to pull away from them by the end so hopefully we can play like that again this weekend,” Ransom said.

Regardless of your age, winning a premiership is a highlight in the life of any sports player.

It will be the fourth year in a row that a North Hobart under-17 girls’ team has made it through to the big day.

“It’s very special for our girls to play in a grand final,” Ransom said.

“We’ve had a lot of new girls come into the team and a couple of really tough injuries, so it’s important not only for the girls who are playing but also for the girls who are injured.

“It would be super-exciting to win a premiership.”
