‘Colt’ incest remain in custody after case in court

A DAY after their arrests in WA and South Australia, and six years after police began investigating horrific claims against them, six members of the infamous ‘incest’ family did not seek bail.

Eight people arrested over alleged historic and ongoing child abuse

SIX members of an infamous family accused of horrific crimes, including incest and paedophilia, have had their matters heard in a Sydney Court.

The “Colt” family members did not apply for bail at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, a day after they were arrested in Western Australia and South Australia.

Their lawyer Paul Johnson told the court the group, aged between 29 and 50, had not sought to appear by video link.

Their matter was adjourned to April 12 at Sydney’s Central Court.

The court appearance followed the arrest of eight family members in raids across Australia in recent days.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad established Strike Force Hermoyne to investigate allegations of incest, child sexual assault, and serious neglect of children on the family’s farm in southern NSW in 2012.

In a discovery which shocked the world, the infamous family, who can only legally known as the Colts to protect the identity of the children, were found by police living in a filthy bush camp six years ago.

A family of 38 adults and children were found living ub allegedly incestuous relationships in filthy conditions without electricity, toilets or town plumbing.

Polcie will allege DNA testing revealed 11 children in the camp were the product of a sexual relationship by their mothers with either a brother, father or other close male relative.

Some of the children had stunted speech and misshapen features, and all slept in caravans, tents and tin sheds.

Two other members of the family were also arrested on Thursday in regional NSW. A man, 45, was arrested and charged with more than a dozen offences, including six counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and indecent assault. A 38-year-old woman was charged with perjury.
