Christmas mailing deadlines have arrived for WA and NT

The cut-off for sending parcels in time for Christmas is upon on us, but there is still hope for the underprepared.

Australia Post to offer after-dark delivery in Perth and Melbourne

Christmas is just around the corner and Australia Post has issued a warning ahead of what is expected to be its busiest ever period.

Those wanting to post parcels to Western Australia and the Northern Terrority in time for Christmas will have to do so by tomorrow.

Australia Post warned the cut off for delivery to the states will be December 8 while for the rest of the country the deadline is December 13.

“We’ll deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as we can, but they may not arrive until after Christmas,” Aus Post said.

For those outside the major cities the recommendation is to send mail even earlier.

However, there is still hope for those that need an extra few days looking for gifts. For most of Australia the cut-off for express post parcels arriving in time for Christmas is December 20 and for WA and NT the deadline is December 15.

Cards and letters also travel faster, with the deadline for those sent by regular post within the same state, December 20 and for interstate, December 16.

International mailing deadlines for most of the world may have already passed, depending where and what you’re looking to post.

For the UK, the recommended deadline for letters and parcels was 3 December and for the US was December 7.

However those willing to pay extra can still send gifts by courier before December 10 to make sure they arrive in time to brighten faces come Christmas morning.
