Campground shooting brother charged with assaulting police, to be extradited

The elder Clavell brother who was gunned down by police at a Murray River campground will be extradited to a Melbourne court after being charged with multiple offences, including assaulting police and damage to emergency service vehicles.

The 30-year-old man who was shot by police in Barnawartha North last Wednesday has been charged with seven counts of assaulting police and will be extradited to Victoria.

Joshua Clavell faced court in Albury today after being charged with a raft of offences.

The Adelaide man was charged with seven counts of assaulting police, intentionally exposing police to risk by driving, damage to emergency service vehicles and other offences.

Extradition was granted and he was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The man’s 19-year-old brother, Joel, remains under guard in a Melbourne hospital.

This investigation is being overseen by Professional Standards Command.
