BRISBANE breakfast radio presenter Bianca Dyesays she has been inundated with support from women in the broadcasting industry after opening up about its sexist culture.

After speaking to Confidential on Saturday about situations she had endured during 23 years on radio, Dye said many women in radio had contacted her with similar stories of “being bullied by the boys’ club”.

Dye, who has had no issues since joining 97.3FM, said she received messages “not from the men directly but people who know them, sending me messages saying, ‘Thank God you have said what I haven’t been able to’.

“I am happy to use my voice for good, but many of the women in radio jobs that are less secure cannot speak up in case they get the sack.

“Every woman I know in this industry would have a story about being bullied by the boys’ club.”

Dye had earlier revealed she had been propositioned by married men – including given a hotel key after an interview – and told by a potential male co-host to “remember, I’m the star of the show and you’re never going to be”.

Dye is supporting the 50 Shades of No campaign, which aims to get rid of the grey area surrounding consent and educate men.
