The bodies of two men reported missing along the Murray River in the state’s north have been found dead, ending two separate major cross border search efforts.

A 54-year-old man — who went missing while swimming at the river near Mildura — was found on Thursday morning just over the NSW border after a two day search.

Emergency services were alerted about 4.20pm on Tuesday after the man failed to return from the beach area at Apex Park in Mildura

Officers from Victoria Police and the Barrier Police District in NSW responded and began a search operation immediately.

In a separate incident near Moama in NSW, Victoria Police divers discovered the body of a man about 7am on Thursday.

The body is yet to be formally identified but believed to be that of a 23-year-old man who was reported missing on Tuesday after falling off a boat near Five Boat boat ramp in Moama.

Reports will be prepared for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.
