The Gold Coast provides a fantastic backdrop for photographers.

We put photos from 50 finalists to a vote of Bulletin subscribers, who chose Kerrie McInnes’ snap of The Southport Spit as the winner.

“I came third last year and I am so excited I won this year,” the Labrador resident said.

“When the sun rises each morning, you will often find me with my iPhone 11 taking photos and I love it.

“I don’t know how to use a big camera but I have learnt a few tips and tricks with my phone to create fabulous shots.”

Ms McInnes said her top tips for “the perfect phone shot” was to frame photos with something in the foreground and background to add depth, to find a bit of texture, like rocks or water, and to use Instagram to sharpen images.

Her favourite places to photograph are Labrador Broadwater, The Spit and Burleigh and Currumbin beaches.
