PLANNED upgrades at a notorious Barwon Heads Rd intersection will be available for public view at a planning and information session today.
Details about the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Barwon Heads Rd, Blackrock Rd and Staceys Rd on the increasingly busy section linking Geelong and the Bellarine will be displayed, and a project team from VicRoads will be present to field questions.
Five car crashes resulting in eight “serious” injuries have been recorded at the intersection between January 2011 and June 2018.
Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said the upgrades would help cater to the safety of the growing community,
“We’re investing to make sure our road infrastructure is capable of catering to increasing traffic volumes — especially for a popular and busy route like Barwon Heads Rd,” Ms Neville said.
The $2.9 million upgrade will also include cycling lanes along the Barwon Heads Rd approaches, as well as improved lighting and dedicated turning lanes.
The session runs from 4-7pm today at the Barwon Heads Senior Citizens Club, 5A Clifford Parade.
