The date for former prime minister Bob Hawke's state funeral has been revealed, which Scott Morrison says, will give Australians their final chance to bid farewell to a "political giant and a national icon".

A state funeral will be held for him at the Sydney Opera House on Friday June 14.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he was pleased Australians would have the chance to farewell a "political giant and a national icon" as he announced the service this afternoon.

"It is fitting that a public celebration of his life will be held at such an iconic and beloved Australian venue," Mr Morrison said.

The service will be held from 11.30am. Members of the public who wish to attend will be able to secure complimentary tickets from midday on Wednesday 29 May via the Sydney Opera House website. The service will also be screened on the steps of the Opera House Forecourt and televised on the ABC.

Earlier, the emotional Prime Minister choked back tears while visiting Jacqueline and Robert Curley at their Cloncurry stud in the state’s north-west, where they talked about how they lost cattle during the February floods.

It comes as Mr Albanese has said he will pass the Government's tax cut plan but wants to look over it first.

The prime minister will likely finalise his ministry over the weekend ahead of swearing in ceremonies next week.
