Why it’s time to back Australia

We are at a crossroads. The more Australian businesses thrive, the healthier and wealthier our nation can be, write Ben English and Anna Caldwell.

Back Australia: Our next making revolution is here

Australia is a can-do country.

A nation that has not merely overcome isolation, but turned it into a superpower.

From the outset, we have been a people of inventors, makers and entrepreneurs.

That ingenuity, that uncanny ability to figure things out - it’s in our blood.

But now we are at a crossroads.

As we enter an era of rising anxiety over jobs and growing threats to our national security, it is crucial that we rejuvenate the can-do spirit.

More than ever we need to build, to innovate and to protect our sovereignty.

The more we depend on others for the goods and services we need to function, the more vulnerable we are as a nation.

It’s better for all of us, rich and poor, young and old, to develop home-grown products that can build wealth, create jobs and protect our independence.

That’s why we are launching Back Australia - a campaign to inspire all Australians to play a part in supporting local industry.

In the coming weeks, we will champion the Aussie companies that are punching above their weight and taking on the world.

We will platform the amazing Australian entrepreneurs and inventors who blazed a trail for home-grown businesses.

We will also uncover the things that are holding us back, from punitive tax regimes and strangling regulation to trade settings that favour foreign nations over locals.

And we’ll demand more from our decision makers to help, not hinder, those businesses brave enough to have a go.

We’re for winners. That’s why we are going to Back Australia.
