One person is dead and others injured after a private jet reportedly owned by Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil veered off the runway and crashed into another plane.

The 64-year-old rock star’s girlfriend Rain Andreani and her friend Ashley were both aboard the jet and have been hospitalised following the incident, TMZ reports.

Andreani reportedly suffered five broken ribs. The multiple pet dogs the women brought aboard the aircraft were also safe, sources told the outlet.

The vocalist was not a passenger on the plane at the time of the accident and his lawyer said the artist’s “thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today”.

Worrick Robinson Law, the law firm representing the heavy metal singer, confirmed the tragic details of the incident in a statement.

“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport,” the firm said.

“For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane.

“On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.

“More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation.”

The identity of the deceased person is still unknown.

The crash occurred at 2:45pm local time (AEDT 8:45am Tuesday).

“An accident has occurred upon arrival to runway 21,” an airport representative said in a statement.

“Fire Department is on scene assessing the situation. Scottsdale Airports runway is currently closed.”

Airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester said at a news conference that one of the arriving plane’s two sets of main landing gear failed upon landing, “resulting in the accident,” as reported by NBC News.

She added that the arriving flight crashed into a jet “parked on private property” adjacent to the facility.

According to the New York Times, at least one person is dead and two had been taken to nearby local trauma centres in a critical condition.

Scottsdale Fire Department’s Captain Dave Folio said in a news conference that another passenger had been taken to a hospital in stable condition, while another was still trapped in the wreck while rescue worked on the scene.

Capt. Folip said five people were involved in the crash and that it is still an active scene while trying to extract the passenger still caught in the collision.

“A Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.

“We do not know how many people were on board. The FAA is temporarily pausing flights into the airport. The FAA will investigate.”

A new Learjet 35A costs around USD$4,800,000 and a Gulfstream G200 business jet can range from USD$2,850,000 to USD$7,195,000, according to Paramount Business Jets.

Pictures shared on social media appear to show two mangled aircraft on the runway as first responders flock to the scene.

According to Fox News, the airport is a popular hub for jets coming in and out of the Phoenix area, especially during big sports weekends like the nearby Waste Management Open golf tournament that attracts huge crowds.

The collision comes after a handful of fatal plane crashes and aviation incidents have left travellers across the US fearful.

A Bering Air flight carrying 10 people vanished while flying over Alaska last week.

The plane was on a short 55-minute commuter flight when it suddenly disappeared off flight radars at 3:16pm local time.

The aircraft was tragically discovered after a crash-landing 34 miles southeast of its intended destination the following day.
