“I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.”

There are currently 5,027 active cases in the state, after 892 people recovered and were released from isolation overnight.

“With Covid still circulating in our community it’s important to continue following the Covid-safe behaviours – practice good hand hygiene, follow social distancing, test when you have symptoms and stay home when you are unwell,” Mr Rockliff said.

“And the most important thing you can continue to do to protect yourself, your family and the community is to roll up your sleeves and get vaccinated when you are due.”
