Man found dead with significant head injuries in underground carpark at Nerang

A worker has made the grim discovery of man dead with significant head injuries in a carpark directly opposite a Gold Coast school.

A death of a man who was found dead in a pool of blood next to a car on the Gold Coast has been deemed ‘non-suspicious’.

Emergency services were called to an underground carpark in Nerang St, Nerang, about 6.50am on Tuesday where the body of a 44-year-old man was found with significant head injuries.

A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said a crime scene was established as police investigated the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Seven plain clothes detectives were on the scene early in the day.

They were doorknocking neighbouring properties along Nerang Street.

Police sources told this publication that a staff member arriving for work made the confronting discovery.

Following inquiries, the man’s death was deemed non-suspicious and a QPS spokesman said a report was being prepared for the coroner.

The carpark is beneath a commercial building directly opposite Nerang State School.

The premises has had ongoing issues with squatters camping in the underground car park and anti-social behaviour, according to the officer.
