Police are investigating after footage emerged a Topanga Canyon resident confronting a “suspicious” lone hiker, amid concerns arson is the cause of the ongoing Palisades Fire.

Forecasters have warned of more horror days ahead, with predictions of “life-threatening and destructive and widespread winds” that officials fear could spread the blazes further.

Two large fires and two smaller ones continue to burn. The biggest, the Palisades Fire, is just 17 per cent contained and has destroyed 23,713 acres of land.

The Eaton Fire is 35 per cent contained, followed by the Hurst Fire (97 per cent contained).

A new fire, called the Auto Fire, has erupted to the west of the Palisades blaze.

The official death toll as a result of the wildfires has risen to 25 people.

Meanwhile, footage has emerged from one of the biggest of the LA blazes, potentially giving a huge clue as to how it started.

The Eaton fire, which has burned through 14,000 acres is now the second largest after the Palisades fire, was first spotted by authorities on Tuesday evening.
