A Gold Coast public servant totalled her car in a high-range drink-driving crash following a boozy office party, a court has heard.
Labrador woman Jaimee-Lee Bain, 28, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where she pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of liquor (i.e. high-range).
The offence occurred at Marine Pde, Southport at about 11.40pm on March 14.
Police responded to a reported multi-vehicle accident and discovered two parked vehicles with minor rear-end damage.
In a nearby driveway, the defendant was parked in her vehicle, which carried “extensive” front-end damage, the court was told.
Bain told officers she had been drinking at her workplace with friends and conceded she should not have been driving, and had no pressing reason for doing so.
The defendant, who told the court she was a public servant, told Magistrate Gary Finger she had made a “very big mistake”.
He responded: “Well, that’s a fact.”
Bain told the court her car was a write-off and she was yet to hear from insurers of the other vehicles.
“Oh, you will,” Mr Finger retorted.
“This is going to be a big life lesson for you.”
He fined her $1600 and disqualified her from driving for 11 months, taking into account she had already been off the road since the date of the accident.
