Authorities investigate Roseneath shed fire and several local crashes

Authorities have launched investigations into a significant blaze on a residential property and traffic crashes across the city.

Investigations are continuing into several crashes around the Townsville region and a significant blaze on a residential property in Roseneath, attended by a half dozen fire crews on Tuesday.

The Queensland Fire Department confirmed that a large shed was ablaze on the property near the intersection of Kerema and Satelburg streets.

A QFD spokesman said the fire, adjacent to a shipping container at the rear of a residential home, was reported at 11.47am.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they were on scene but there were no reported injuries.

Billowing smoke could be seen kilometres from the scene of the blaze.

Police said on Wednesday that the fire was being treated as non-suspicious at this stage, but the investigation is ongoing.

Stolen car crashes in Railway Estate

A stolen vehicle crashed at Second Ave, Railway Estate on Tuesday at 6.15pm.

Police arrested one person at the scene before they were transported to Townsville University Hospital for treatment.

Car vs motorcycle crash in Burdell

A QAS spokeswoman, meanwhile, said a male motorcyclist in his 50s had suffered significant chest and pelvic injuries after a collision with a car in Burdell at 11.25am.

The accident occurred at the intersection Main Street and Market Streets.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious lower body injuries while two other patients received minor injuries.

They were transferred to Townsville University Hospital.

Female cyclist injured in accident in Heatley

A female cyclist has been injured in a collision with a vehicle in Heatley.

Queensland Ambulance Service said the cyclist, in her 20s, was struck on Charles Street near Lerida Street about 8.30am on Tuesday morning.

A QAS spokeswoman said the victim had suffered a hip injury and abrasions.

She was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

Three firefighting crews, meanwhile, remain on the scene of incident in Batavia Street in Pimlico.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the crews had responded to reports of a structure fire.

A QFD spokesman said a burning object had been removed from a property, which was not damaged.

Elderly woman injured after car strikes cow

An elderly woman has been hurt but a cow has had a miraculous escape from serious injury after a car struck the animal on a rural North Queensland road.

Multiple emergency crews were called to the scene of the accident involving a “pitch-black cow on a pitch-black road” on the Ingham-Forrest Beach Road in Hinchinbrook Shire about 6.30pm on Monday.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed a woman in her 70s, travelling toward Forrest Beach, had been injured in the accident.

A QAS spokeswoman said she was transported to Ingham Hospital in a stable condition.

Emergency services said the despite the speed of the collision, estimated to be about 100kmh, the medium-sized cow had not only survived, but also appeared to be largely uninjured, nonchalantly eating grass on the side of the road.

The road remains open to traffic.

The accident is near the scene of a recent fatal head-on collision that claimed the life of David Tapp and left another woman critically injured.
