Shocking video has emerged showing the moment a Las Vegas showgirl was stabbed to death in the street while wearing her red feather outfit, in America’s entertainment capital.
Performer and schoolteacher Maris DiGiovanni, 30, was slain in the October 2022 attack along with Brent Hallett, 47.
Prosecutors say Yoni Christian Barrios, 34, is responsible for their murder as well as wounding six other people, some of them showgirls.
Barrios, 34, was indicted on terror and murder charges after a grand jury was shown the horrific footage, according to the Daily Mail.
The video shows what appears to be Barrios running down Las Vegas strip holding a large kitchen knife. He stabs Ms DiGiovanni, who falls down, then he runs down Las Vegas Boulevard and stabs a man in the back.
He keeps running and stabs a third man sitting on a wall.
In another clip he is tackled to the floor by police inside the Sands Expo.
Horrific photos taken after the attack show the crime scene with Ms DiGiovanni’s red feathered headdress on the blood-spattered pavement.
Police said Barrios had initially approached a group of showgirls and asked them to take a picture with them.
He reportedly said he was a chef and wanted to pose with the knife, but when he thought they were laughing at him he began stabbing, said Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani.
Ms DiGiovanni was part of the Best Showgirls In Vegas modelling agency, according to her boss Cheryl Lowthorp. She was also a schoolteacher.
Ms Lowthorp said two other showgirls who were with the agency were wounded while a third escaped without injury.
Before the attack, Barrios had sought employment at the up-market Wynn Resort & Casino.
The suspect’s immigration or citizen status is unclear.
Court documents obtained by DailyMail.com indicate Barrios was charged in 2019 with criminal domestic violence by Los Angeles district attorney Jackie Lacey.
The case lapsed, however, and was eventually dismissed under California law.
After his arrest, Barrios told detectives he was from Guatemala and wanted ICE to “take him home”, according to a report released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
