Is the Liberal Party on the slide already?

Well they are but it’s not what you think.

Burleigh MP Hermann Vorster and Surfers Paradise MP John-Paul Langbroek couldn’t resist jumping in on the fun at Caningeraba State School as they opened a new playground and put the equipment to the test with some of the students on Wednesday last week.

A video posted to Mr Vorster’s social media shows them each having a turn on the slide and climbing up high ropes equipment.

Mr Vorster sped down the slide and landed with a thud before erupting into laughter.

Mr Langbroek didn’t look as comfortable when exiting the slide and had to keep himself from landing on the ground to protect his white pants.

Mr Vorster said the students were giving them both advice on how to use the equipment.

He said it was the polyester in his suit pants that allowed him to pick up speed on the slide.

“The kids loved it,” he said.

“The playground has been so popular, the school has put in a shift system so every student can have a go on it.”

The school’s parent and community group (P&C) raised $195,000 to be able to build the playground for their students.

They held school discos and colour runs to raise the money.

“The P&C has demonstrated incredible leadership,” Mr Vorster said.

“This is what parent power is all about.

“Fundraising isn’t about just standing behind a barbecue ... you can actually have fun while fundraising and deliver an incredible result for students.”
