A daring “rescue” has unfolded at a Gold Coast beach as dozens of stunned onlookers watched from the sand.
Surfers Paradise resident Christine Tibbitts captured video of the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service hovering above the beach on Sunday morning.
It appeared to pluck something out of the water and winch it up as beachgoers watched from the shore.
But all is not as it seems.
A spokesman for the rescue service said it was simply a training exercise for crew members and there was no cause for alarm.
