Police have charged two teens, including a 14-year-old, after a wild police chase involving two stolen cars and a crimefighting helicopter.

Police have charged two teenagers, including a 14-year-old boy, after a wild police chase involving two stolen cars and a crimefighting helicopter.

Gold Coast police received reports a BMW sedan was snatched from a Jubilee Ave, Broadbeach address shortly before 6.30am on Monday.

Subsequently, officers spotted the BMW travelling towards the Gold Coast Hwy and the Queensland Police Polair helicopter tracked the vehicle through several suburbs.

While the chopper was on the tail of the sedan, the car was spotted entering an undercover car park along the highway.

Two occupants left the vehicle and fled the car park in a silver Honda sedan stolen from a Wincanton Place, Mudgeeraba address just before 5.30am, police stated.

Officers monitored the Honda before a tyre deflation device was used in an attempt to bring the vehicle to a halt at Worongary

Nevertheless, the Honda continued on and entered the car park of a Worongary shopping centre, where the occupants left the vehicle and fled on foot towards Quambone St.

Police arrested two people soon after – allegedly the 14-year-old boy and his 17-year-old accomplice.

The 14-year-old has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and commit indictable offence, driving without a licence, dangerous operation of a vehicle and one count each of receiving tainted property and fraud.

The 17-year-old has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and common assault.

Both were denied bail and were due to face before Southport Children’s Court on an undisclosed date.
