A Gold Coast OnlyFans model has admitted to flying off the handle and bashing her mum, with whom she was living at the time, after the pair became involved in a heated argument about the state of a bedroom.
Labrador woman Teisha Ann McCarthy-Thompson, 27, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday, where she pleaded guilty to a trio of charges: assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, and possessing a glass smoking pipe.
All offences occurred on December 16 last year at the Coolangatta home McCarthy-Thompson was sharing with her mother.
The dispute between the pair arose when a tourist knocked on their door in search of a missing phone, which a location app indicated may have been inside, the court heard.
McCarthy-Thompson, who was home alone, let the tourist inside to conduct a search, but it was not clear whether any device was ultimately located, or whether it was even there to begin with.
The defendant’s mother returned home at about 3pm and was unhappy with the state her bedroom had been left in after the search.
She and McCarthy-Thompson had a verbal argument which then escalated into the defendant damaging a standing mirror and assaulting the older woman, who was left with a laceration and bruising to her face.
Defence lawyer Joanna McNae told the court her client, who suffered a variety of mental health conditions, was suffering a period of psychological distress when the offending occurred.
However, she had since commenced weekly sessions with a psychologist, was taking her medication again, had undertaken a domestic violence offenders course, and was no longer residing with her mother.
The pair had a complicated relationship stemming from McCarthy-Thompson’s childhood, Ms McNae said.
Her client had no previous offences of violence on her criminal history, the defence lawyer added.
Magistrate Jane Bentley said the defendant’s conduct represented “quite serious offending”.
She placed McCarthy-Thompson, who earns a crust as an OnlyFans model, on six months’ probation and spared her any convictions.
