POLICE have located a 13-year-old girl reported missing from Surfers Paradise, but a 14-year-old girl missing from the Tweed since New Year’s Day has still not been found.

Early Friday morning, Queensland Police appealed for urgent assistance to find the girl seen leaving an apartment building on View St at Surfers Paradise about 6.30pm on Thursday.

“Police and her family hold serious concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character,” a statement read.

But police confirmed later on Friday morning the girl had since been found.

However, Tweed teen Crystal Walker, 14, has still not been found after she went missing on January 1.

Loved ones reported Crystal missing to NSW Police after she failed to return home that night.

She’s described as of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, with long dark brown hair and brown eyes, a slim build and about 170 centimetres tall.

Crystal was last seen wearing grey leggings, a black T-shirt and a cardigan with black sneakers.

There has been a number of unconfirmed sightings, with the girl known to frequent Tweed Heads and Broadbeach areas, according to police.

Anyone with information about Crystal’s whereabouts is urged to call Tweed Heads Police station on 07 5506 9499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

January 27: Police have appealed for public assistance in the search for a Tweed Heads schoolgirl missing since New Year’s Day.

Crystal Walker, 14, was last seen riding a black bicycle along Kennedy Dr at Tweed Heads about 6pm on January 1.

Teens charged over attempted chemist break-in

January 24: Two teens have been charged for smashing the front door of a Gold Coast chemist in an unsuccessful break-in.

The 17-year-old and 14-year-old boys have been charged, after allegedly attempting to break into an Ormeau chemist on Eggersdorf Rd at about 4.30am on Saturday.

Police will allege the pair smashed a glass door, but failed to get into the store, before leaving on foot.

The 17-year-old is charged with attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and will appear before the Southport Children’s Court.

The 14-year-old boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted enter premise with intent to commit indictable offence, stealing and receiving tainted property.

He will also appear in Southport Children’s Court.

$7m of meth seized by police in truck raid

December 14: A Gold Coast man has been charged with drug offences after police seized 10kg of meth during a truck intercept.

Police say the seizure had a street value of more than $7m.

During a joint investigation authorities became aware of a truck travelling from interstate into Queensland that might have been carrying drugs, police said.

Police intercepted the vehicle at Yatala about 4pm Tuesday.

“A search of the vehicle located approximately 10kg of methylamphetamine (pictured) concealed in a pot plant and two money-counting machines,” police said in a statement.

Task Force Sentry drug bust

The seizure and arrest followed a joint investigation by multi-agency Task Force Sentry, involving officers from the Drug and Serious Crime Group, Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and Department of Home Affairs.

A 23-year-old Coomera man, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and charged with one count each of possession of dangerous drug (exceed quantity), possession of items for use in the commission of a crime and contravene requirement.

He was been remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Charges after alleged wounding

Earlier: A man has been charged with allegedly slashing a security guard’s hand with a knife at a major Gold Coast shopping centre.

Detectives arrested a 25-year-old Kangaroo Point man on Monday after a major investigation into the November 7 incident.

Police allege the man slashed a 19-year-old security guard’s hand with a knife after stealing three handbags from a luxury store at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre at Broadbeach.

The security guard required treatment in hospital for his injuries, police say.

The man has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, enter premises and commit indictable offence and going armed to cause fear.

He is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today on Tuesday.

Crash arrest

A man who took out a set of traffic lights on the Gold Coast has been taken into custody by police.

Police were called to the an intersection on Brisbane Rd and Olsen Ave in Labrador at 9.04am on Wednesday after a car wiped out the set of traffic lights.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the man is in custody and undertook a blood test in hospital.

No one was injured from the incident.

The damage to the traffic lights have been cleared and traffic is flowing freely at the intersection.

Car found in Coast river, rescuers comb area

December 8: Emergency services were called to search a river on the Gold Coast on Wednesday morning after a car was found submerged in the waterway.

However, Gold Coast police have confirmed the stolen vehicle was dumped in the river and there was no driver in sight.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) rescuers were called to Weedons Crossing Bridge at Nerang River, Nerang about 5.45am, a spokesman said.

Two QFES crews searched the area around the car, which was submerged up to its windows.

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance services were also in attendance.

A police spokeswoman said the “stolen vehicle” was “abandoned in the river”.

She said a member of the public spotted the vehicle in the vehicle at 5.40am.

The car was stolen from Pimpama between 8pm on Tuesday and 4.30am on Wednesday.
