Gold Coast teenager Izellah Connelly is lighting up the latest instalment of Australian Idol, making it through to the final 21 of the show on Monday night.
The excited 18-year-old said of her advancement: “It feels so cool. Unexpected, but taking it as it comes and just chilling.”
Izellah, having just turned 18 and graduated high school, is racking up up the milestones.
“Last time I was [on Idol] I was still doing school, but now I’m back and not having to worry about that anymore.
“So it’s honestly awesome just to focus on doing what I love and being a so-called ‘adult’, even though I don’t feel like it at all.”
The Southport local is no stranger to showbiz, saying she began singing lessons at seven and soon after landed theatre roles in productions The Sound of Music and Matilda. Despite her roles in acting Izellah maintains music as her passion.
“I always had my music but I was always doing it in the studio and I never got the chance to do it live on a stage and especially on such a huge stage like Idol.
“It’s wild, it’s crazy, it’s scary but I honestly love it so much. It feels like home and I feel really good and grateful while doing it.”
She has hinted at the future release of singles and possibly even an EP or full length album.
“Hopefully I’ll get booked for a few gigs and who knows? Maybe even a LA trip.”
