Queensland state election 2024: Everything you need to know about GC pre-poll voting

Pre-poll voting has begun for the October 26 state election across the Gold Coast’s 11 seats. Here’s everything you need to know before casting your vote.

Here is the full list of pre-polling voting centres and guide for early voting on the Gold Coast.

The City has 11 State electorates – each have at least two locations where residents can vote. Most have full access. The hours of operating for centres will be 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, from October 14-18 and October 21-25.

Voters have a choice of two weeks of pre-poll or vote on election day, on October 26.

Early voting is underway

The Electoral Commission of Queensland has alerted voters to the following three major differences for these elections compared to the local government poll earlier in the year:

• Vote anywhere. You can cast your vote at any polling place within Queensland, no matter where you live.

• Extended early voting. Opening hours have been extended to 8am – 6pm for the entire 2-week early voting period on weekdays from Monday 14 to Friday 25 October.

• Full preferential voting. Voters must make sure they number every box on your ballot paper, in your order of preference, to make your vote count.

Pre-polling will continue until October 25.

The electoral roll has now closed if voters wanted to change their address. Voters must be 18 years of age.

A postal vote must be requested by 7pm on October 14. Delivery time frames are dependent on Australia Post services.

Voters who fail to vote must give sufficient reasons. If not, they will be fined $154 or $77 for early payment.
