A man has been charged after he allegedly ‘poured acid’ on another man causing serious facial injuries. Read the latest.

A man has been charged after a horrifying alleged domestic violence attack which left another man with serious facial burns.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Darlington Dr, Banora Point about 9.15am on Thursday after an alleged acid attack.

“At the scene, police located a 59-year-old man suffering serious injuries believed to be caused by an acid,” a NSW Police Force spokesman said.

“He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown to a hospital in a serious condition.”

The man remains in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital receiving treatment for serious burns.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Minjungbal Dr around 10am and took him to Tweed Heads Police Station.

They have since charged him with, do grievous bodily harm by the use of corrosive fluid.

“Police will allege that the younger man poured acid onto the other man. The men are known to each other.”

The 35-year-old was refused bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.
