A popular Gold Coast restaurant is adding to its footprint by opening in evergrowing Nobby Beach, as they prepare a large-scale renovation of their existing 10-year-old venue.

After a decade of success in Broadbeach, Mamasan owners Lauren and JP Duitsch said the venue would be undergoing a major revamp and expansion.

“(It will be to) elevate our modern Asian dining experience while preserving the elements our guests have come to love,” Ms Duitsch said.

She said the restaurant would temporarily close its doors on May 5 to begin renovations, which will include a new private dining room and a larger group space.

“It’s time to evolve,” Ms Duitsch said.

“We have very big and exciting plans for Mamasan Broadbeach and can’t wait to share with everyone in the coming months.”

While the reopening date was not fixed, the owners said they had secured award-winning chef Sebastian Tan for the “new chapter”.

“He brings over 18 years of international experience in some of the most renowned restaurants like Hakkasan, St. Regis, and Crown Melbourne,” Ms Duitsch said.

“Guests can expect the bold, authentic flavours we’re known for, with all the Mamasan classics they’ve come to love.”

Wasting no time, the duo will be opening a pop-up in Nobby Beach in May.

“We don’t want our loyal community to be without their Mamasan fix while renovations are underway, so we’re excited to announce the opening of a new concept pop-up restaurant in Nobby Beach next month,” Ms Duitsch said.

“It’s a vibrant local hub that aligns with our brand values while allowing us to maintain our presence during the renovation period.”

Ms Duitsch said they were looking forward to “joining the fold and being a part of Nobby’s growing hospitality scene” which has seen the likes of Rick Shores owner Nick Woodward, Lars Kollrepp and Daniel Veitch’s The Oxley multi-purpose mega hub, transform the suburb.

“We’ve loved seeing Nobby’s evolve with a number of incredible restaurateurs bringing a new energy to the precinct,” she aid.

The pop-up menu will have some of the “signature favourites” as well as some new “exciting” items.

“The pop-up will be smaller while still capturing the essence of Mamasan while adapting to its temporary setting, keeping with our warm and moody atmosphere.”

Ms Duitsch said she was “not worried” about the Light Rail Stage 3 construction which has been plaguing the area.

“The area still attracts many locals and diners and the light rail will be great for the precinct once it’s complete.”
