Residents have witnessed a houseboat with two dogs on-board sinking at a popular Gold Coast waterway.
The vessel was spotted semi-submerged at Paradise Point on Thursday morning, with several onlookers sharing their concerns on social media.
A Gold Coast police spokesperson said they were made aware of the incident at 4.30am.
They said as the man who was on-board was safe and had access to a tender they did not pursue the incident and handed it to the marine services.
They said it wasn’t until a few hours later when the man phoned them back to advise them he had heard a bang which he thought may be wilful damage.
Gold Coast police are now investigating the incident to see if there was a suspicious element involved.
A Volunteer Marine Rescue spokesperson said they were aware of the boat but had not been activated to help out.
At around 8am they said the water police were on scene assessing the situation.
Gold Coast resident Kellie Paterson and said she saw the people and their two dogs were still on board.
“Poor buggers on this house boat,” she said.
“Apparently they heard a bang at 2am and it started to sink.”
Pictures of the houseboat show the front end submerged in the water.
