A truckie who allegedly blew more than six times the alcohol limit after struggling against police during his arrest has been identified.
Gurjeet Singh Gill was charged with one count each of being in charge of a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor and obstructing police.
Police allege the 44-year-old was seen driving on Dreamworld Parkway shortly before he was found by the side of the road with his engine still running and an empty bottle of liquor beside him.
Mr Gill allegedly refused to submit to a roadside breath test and briefly struggled with police during his arrest.
It is alleged he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.311 after being taken to the Southport watchhouse. His licence was immediately suspended.
He did not front Southport Magistrates Court when his case was mentioned for the first time on Monday, with solicitor Amanda O’Brien appearing on his behalf to ask for a short adjournment.
Mr Gill’s case was adjourned to January 18.
