Police have closed a major road on the northern Gold Coast after a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the two-car crash along Peachey Rd in Yatala at around 3am on Thursday.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said a four-wheel drive and an SUV collided along the busy road.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and emergency services had to cut a man out of the four-wheel drive after it had rolled.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said they assessed the man who had significant head and leg injuries and took him to Gold Coast University Hospital.
The police spokesman said officers had closed Peachey Rd between Pearson Rd and Stanmore Rd due to the crash.
The road remained closed at around 5am.
“Motorists are urged to obey traffic directions, avoid the area where possible and seek alternative,” a police statement said.
A forensic crash unit are continuing to investigate the crash.
