An elderly woman has died in hospital after she sustained life-threatening injuries from a house fire on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to the property on Milling Court, Robina about 2.30pm on Monday, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
A 99-year-old woman sustained burns to her chest, face, back and limbs and was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
On Tuesday, a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman confirmed the woman died as a result of her injuries.
“Initial investigations indicate the fire was non-suspicious,” the QPS spokesman said.
“Investigations into the cause are ongoing.”
It’s understood the small fire started in a room and was extinguished relatively quickly by emergency services.
