A Gold Coast mother has revealed her 15-year-old daughter suffered with long Covid for about four months after contracting the virus earlier in the year.

Natalie Therese Jeffs said her teenage daughter has only just recovered from long-Covid after she first contracted the virus over the Easter break.

“I have six children and I have never seen any of them as sick as she was,” she said.

“But when she had Covid it was very mild, she was sicker from the long Covid – for about four months.”

Ms Jeffs said her daughter, who was double-vaccinated, struggled with “really bad fatigue”.

She said her daughter didn’t have an appetite and when she would eat she would “bring it straight back up”.

“She would also get the shakes – like a nervous system, uncontrollable shakes in random limbs”.

“My entire family is vaccinated for Covid except my baby and my two younger children 10 and eight – I gave my older children their own choice and they decided they wanted to get vaccinated.”

Long Covid, now known as post-Covid condition, is when some people continue to feel unwell 3 months after getting Covid-19, according to the Queensland government.

“The time it takes to recover from COVID-19 is different for every person,

“The majority of people will recover within four weeks, but others may take four to 12 weeks.

“If someone experiences symptoms 12 weeks after getting Covid-19, they may be experiencing post-Covid-19 condition (long Covid).”
