A former commercial manager at the Geelong Cats who was allegedly caught drink driving at more than five times the legal limit failed to show up to court and has had a warrant issued for his arrest.
Geelong West’s Thomas Charles Fallaw, 42, was meant to appear in the Seymour Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon, but when his name was called there was no sign of him.
It’s alleged on October 26 last year, Mr Fallaw was drink driving in Victoria’s north before being intercepted by police.
It is alleged he was speeding at 178 km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Hume Highway at Longwood East.
Police allege Fallaw, who was unlicensed, blew 0.284 — almost six times the blood alcohol limit.
His car was impounded for 30 days and he was also handed an immediate driving ban.
Longwood East is about 200km northeast of Geelong.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr Fallaw most recently worked for City of Melbourne as a manager.
A spokesman from the city said: “The individual was employed at the City of Melbourne but was terminated during probation”.
Mr Fallaw has worked in various high-profiles roles across Melbourne and Geelong, including as a manager in the commercial space for the Geelong Cats between October 2010 and June 2016.
His profile also states he previously worked for the NDIS as an assistant director in market development and was also previously employed as an events officer at Geelong council in the early 2000s.
Mr Fallaw is charged with exceeding the speed limit of a 110km/h road by 45 km/h or more, driving in a manner dangerous, driving at a speed dangerous and careless driving of a motor vehicle.
He is also charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor, driving above the prescribed alcohol limit of 0.5 or above, and unlicensed driving.
As a result of Mr Fallaw’s absence, the police prosecutor asked for a warrant to be issued.
Magistrate Allison Vaughan said she would grant the warrant.
“In circumstances where Mr Fallaw has failed to attend court today or contact the court I will issue a warrant for his arrest, given the serious nature of the charges,” Ms Vaughan said.
