Top performing Geelong NAPLAN schools revealed in last 5 years

A small Geelong primary school is among the region’s best performing schools, according to new analysis. See the full list.

Kardinia International College and Geelong Grammar School are the top performing NAPLAN schools in Geelong, according to independent analysis.

The survey of five years of NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which consistently performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests between 2017 and 2021.

Over that five-year period, Geelong Grammar School, in Corio, had higher Year 5 yearly results than any other school in the Geelong, scoring an average of 2707.3 each year.

Fyans Park Primary School in Newtown only was the second best for the region with an average score of 2694.8, while Chilwell Primary School in Newtown was the third best with an average score of 2675.8.

St Aloysius’ School is the smallest top-ranking school in the mix with just 78 students, according to the My School data base. It had an average score of 2600.8, followed by Point Lonsdale Primary School which shared the same average score and has 116 students.

The top performing Year 9 school was Kardinia International College, in Bell Post Hill, where the average yearly result was 3076.3 over the five years.

Geelong Grammar School in Corio was the second best for the region with an average score of 3035.8, while The Geelong College in Newtown was the third best with an average score of 3010.0.

To determine how each school performed between 2017 and 2021, their average scores for each year were combined and the yearly average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled in either year, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects in either year were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
