A 25-year-old driving an allegedly stolen car has been charged after a lengthy police chase through Geelong that ended with a dramatic crash on a Melbourne street.

A 25-year-old driving an allegedly stolen car has been arrested after a chase through Geelong ended with a dramatic crash on a Melbourne street.
The air wing unit and ground officers followed a Mazda Bravo ute, believed to have been stolen from Hamlyn Heights, through several suburbs including Gheringhap, Maude, Anakie, Lovely Banks and Corio.
It was initially spotted driving on the Midland Hwy on Thursday morning.
The pursuit continued along the Princes Freeway before travelling through suburban streets in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.
A Victoria Police spokesman said the Mazda “slowed down to avoid stop-sticks” on Morris Rd, at the intersection of Sayers Rd, before slamming into a tree about 10.30am.
Vision shows a bloodied man sitting on the road in handcuffs after police swooped, with paramedics arriving a short time later.
The Sunshine North man was under surveillance in hospital on Thursday night with non life-threatening injuries.
He has been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, possessing a drug of dependence and driving while disqualified.
He has been remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
