Bellarine paramedics are expressing their thanks for an unknown man who embodied the spirit of Christmas in a Drysdale supermarket.
Bellarine and Swan Bay team manager Adam Miller was shopping on Christmas Eve for food for the paramedics who would be working across the holiday period.
When he was using the self-checkout an anonymous man paid with his bank card and left without giving his name or asking for thanks.
Mr Miller said the crews at Bellarine and Swan Bay ambulance stations were thankful to the man.
“These treats were for our paramedics working the Christmas Eve night shift and Christmas Day,” he said.
“A lovely gentleman came while I was fumbling with a self serve checkout and he happily tapped his card on the register and paid for more than $180 of our groceries.
“We want to make a huge shout out to this unknown man.”
Mr Miller said he was able to briefly speak to the good Samaritan.
“He was very unassuming, very quiet, he didn’t want any sort of thanks for it, he was just happy to let us enjoy the food,” he said.
“There was about 35 of us that really enjoyed that food on Christmas.”
Mr Miller said it was probably a strange sight for a paramedic in uniform to have a full supermarket trolley on Christmas Eve.
“Obviously, this isn’t something we expect but was very much appreciated,” he said.
“His generosity brought some extra cheer to the team, who have been working so hard during this time.”
