Grim details have emerged in the search for two Perth brothers, Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend who disappeared on April 27, with Mexican authorities finding three bodies near a cliff in the same vicinity they were last seen.

The discovery was outlined to local media, with officials stating the bodies were located in the La Bocana area of the Pacific Coast.

The remains have yet to be formally identified.

It comes as the brothers’ parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, revealed Jake, 30, was set to arrive in Geelong to start the next chapter of his career.

He left for the US a fortnight ago to visit Callum, 33, where he was based as a professional lacrosse player.

“It was the trip of a lifetime to see his brother, before shortly taking up a new position at Geelong Hospital in Victoria,” they said in an open letter.

“Callum and Jake are beautiful human beings.

“We love them so much and this breaks our heart.”

Callum, Jake and their friend, Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, were last known to have been in Rosarito on April 27, on Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.

The area is one of the most violent in the country.

Their burnt out car was found at a ranch several kilometres from the search site.

The US Sun is reporting homicide teams and fire and rescue units are at the scene recovering the human remains.

Earlier, Baja California Attorney-General María Elena Andrade Ramírez revealed investigators had discovered a burnt out ute which they believed was the Chevrolet Colorado which belonged to the one of the missing men.

They also located the camping site where the Robinson brother and their friend Mr Carter Rhoad were staying.
