Talks of a potential merger between two recruitment companies have kicked off.
The boards of Gforce Employment and Recruitment and MEGT Australia met on Tuesday to explore the opportunities that could arise from a potential merger.
Both companies believe a merger would provide strategic benefits for both organisations and have commenced a due diligence process.
MEGT supports employers, apprentices, trainees, job seekers, and student and has about 650 staff from approximately 60 offices across every state.
Gforce services communities across Victoria, from Warrnambool to Sunshine, and has 60 permanent staff, nine service offices and five outreach locations.
It is focused on helping people achieve the benefits of employment.
MEGT chair Peter Moore said the partnership combined the skills of teams who shared the passion for helping people and greater resources to support innovation and growth.
“Together we will help even more people and more communities,” he said.
Gforce chair Bill Mithen said both organisations shared a common heritage and commitment to helping people.
“Through our merger we will better serve our existing communities and are excited to build new relationships,” Mr Mithen said.
“We look forward to bringing our strong community connections and benefiting from MEGT’s
expertise and scale.
“Our organisations complement each other and share a common focus on serving our communities into the future.”
The partnership is hoping to provide greater scale and opportunity, and the ability to invest to enable the organisations to better meet community needs in the future.
It is expected MEGT and Gforce will maintain local service delivery teams and will continue to serve their clients under the MEGT and Gforce identities.
A decision on a merger is hoped to be achieved by March 31.
The MEGT office in Geelong is based in Fenwick St, while the Gforce office in Geelong is based on the corner of Gheringhap and McKillop streets.
