Man found injured at Thompson Rd car park after suspected stabbing

A man was found with suspected stab wounds at a North Geelong car park on Sunday morning amid a spike in knife crime across the region.

A man was found with suspected stab wounds at a North Geelong car park on Sunday morning.

It comes after a spike in knife crime in recent weeks across the region.

Police were called to the car park of a licensed premises on Thompson Rd about 7.40am after reports a man had been found injured.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Katherine McLeod said police believe the man may have been stabbed.

“He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” she said.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident.

There have been at least six alleged stabbings within the last month in Geelong, including the incident on Sunday.

Last Monday, a 20-year-old man presented himself to Corio police station after being stabbed in the leg in Norlane.

Later that night, a second man presented himself to the emergency department at Geelong hospital with suspected stab wounds.
