Geelong's best mechanic named by Addy readers

Addy readers have voted for the best mechanic in Geelong, with the winner saying they were overwhelmed by the support.

A North Geelong mechanic shop has been named the region’s best.

Geelong Advertiser readers voted Drive Safe Service Centre as having the best mechanics in Geelong.

Drew McKee, who owns and operates the Douro St centre with wife Alice, said he was overwhelmed by the community support.

“I am proud of my team, proud of my customers,” Mr McKee said.

“It’s hard work and dedication paying off, but it’s definitely a surprise.”

Mr McKee started working in the industry more than 20 years ago and was always determined to own and operate his own business.

That dream came true nearly 7 years ago and Mr McKee said he hasn’t looked back.

Mr McKee said his wife was key to the success of the business.

“The main feedback we get from our customers is that we provide one-on-one service,” he said.

Mr McKee said the team had a “just get it done attitude” and always put customers first.

“We’ve done that from day one,” he said.
