Geelong injury news: Defender Jack Henry to miss 3-4 weeks with hamstring strain

The scans results are in for an important Cat, and his setback has come at the worst possible time.

Geelong defender Jack Henry will miss ar least three weeks after scans confirmed a hamstring strain.

Henry was subbed out of Geelong win against Melbourne in the second quarter after pulling up lame and leaving the field.

Scans on Monday revealed the key back will miss 3-4 weeks in another blow to their defensive stocks, with Jake Kolodjashnij (groin) yet to feature this season.

“Jack is expected to miss the next three to four weeks with a hamstring strain,” Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said.

“Whilst disappointing for Jack, he has started the year off extremely well and we are looking forward to seeing him back playing.”

The setback has come before a challenging run of fixtures for the Cats, who face the three-pronged attack of Adelaide on Thursday night before Hawthorn, Carlton and Collingwood.

Ruck-defender Sam De Koning remained in defence against Melbourne after Henry’s injury as inclusion Rhys Stanley impressing in his ruck duel with Max Gawn.

Geelong’s full injury list will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
